Palisades Lake is such a beautiful place!! Lots of greenery, and super clean lakes and streams with water that is clear as glass! It is a great hike for those who enjoy being out in nature!
It is a little over an hour drive Southeast of Rexburg. You can find directions here! It is a scenic drive, so you won't want to be sleeping on this ride!
The hike is a little lengthy, about 14 miles. It took us most of the day, from about 7:30 am - 4:00 pm. But we also made many pit stops and a lunch break. It is not a difficult or steep hike, but it is long. But the walking is 100% worth it for the amazing views!

and yes, the water is actually that color!
The trail is enjoyable, especially with good company! Everywhere you look, there are bright, vibrant colors
There are even some fun surprises along the trail! you can go swimming in the water (even though it is freezing), and explore random little cabins on the side of the trail!
You could also try fishing, but I wouldn't recommend it here, as the water is so clean and there were few fish. We didn't have much luck catching anything

- It is best to go from March - October, when there is no snow
- be prepared to walk for a really long time! About 14 miles
- The water is ice cold, even in summer
- Bring a snack and lots of water, or a water filter to drink water from the lake
- SMILE!! And enjoy the view! Do not forget to look around you!
